Joel Bolomboy on CSKA: “Your way of getting players to do what you want is by threatening them”

Big man Joel Bolomboy shared on his Instagram Tuesday night a letter from CSKA Moscow Vice-President Natalia Furaeva, urging him to return to the club, or legal action will follow against him.

Bolomboy was among the several players to have fleed CSKA following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, and through a statement on his Instagram post, he made it clear that he doesn’t plan to return.

“Get out of here! I already told you I am not coming back”. Your way of getting players to do what you want is by threatening them and trying to punish them. You told me and the whole team we can leave and you understand when the Russia/Ukraine situation escalated.”

As it can be seen in the screenshot posted by the player, CSKA requested the confirmation of his return no later than May 1 and in case of a negative answer, the club will take legal action, as Vice-President Furaeva writes.

Bolomboy, 28, joined Tornike Shengelia, Gabriel Lundberg, Marius Grigonis, and Johannes Voigtmann on the list of players leaving the Russian giant back in late February. The Ukraine-born big produced 5.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.7 blocks, 0.3 steals, and 0.3 assists per EuroLeague contest across 23 games in the 2021-22 season.
