Barcelona may have beaten Cafe Breogan 74 – 72 to mathematically secure first seed in the Spanish ACB League but that didn’t mean that Sarunas Jasikevicius was any happy with the performance of his team, less than two weeks before the EuroLeague Final Four (19/5 -21/5).
The first half was not worthy of our club. The reaction was very good, we have to talk about 24 points conceded in the second half. It’s been a bit of a match. I don’t know what to say, but it’s not easy here,” Jasikevicius said, per Mundo Deportivo. “This basketball is not enough for the Final Four, we aren’t fooling ourselves.”
Barcelona trailed for almost the entire game until the final minutes when Cory Higgins put his team up. The American guard’s return to action after three months (plantar fasciitis) was one of the very few positive elements of this game for the Blaugrana.
The rest of the ACB regular-season games of Barcelona will serve more or less as a preparation period for the team ahead of the Final Four. Sarunas Jasikevicius and his players will take on archrival Real Madrid in the second of the two semifinals Thursday (19/5) while defending champion Anadolu Efes will face Olympiacos Piraeus in the other game.
