Vasilije Micic was named Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four MVP, as announced following the breathtaking championship game pitting Anadolu Efes against Real Madrid.
“Thank you everyone for being in the gym. Thanks to all the fans participating in the Final Four,” the Serbian guard said after soaking in the MVP chants of the fans in attendance in Belgrade’s Stark Arena, “I am honestly speechless. Four years ago, I played here and won third place. I fell short. But this time we won the title. I want to congratulate my teammates. I want to congratulate Real Madrid on an amazing game. And thank you once again.”
Micic, 28, averaged 19.0 points per game over the two contests of the Final Four, including the game-winning buzzer-beater against Olympiacos in the Semifinals. His scoring effort was complemented by 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.
“This one still feels amazing. Not much changed since five minutes ago. Still, I am speechless,” he said after receiving the trophy from Euroleague Legend Vassilis Spanoulis, “These achievements will stay with me for all my life, it will stay marked in my heart as long as I play basketball and afterward. This would be impossible without my teammates. Four amazing years together, two titles. Team results are more important.”
“I think everybody knows tonight will be very very hot all over Belgrade,” he added previewing further celebrations in Serbia’s capital, “I will take all my team with me and celebrate like never before.”
Micic was named 2021 Final Four MVP as well, shortly after earning the season MVP distinction. Adding on individual accolades, he became the latest recipient of the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy and was featured in the 2021-22 All-EuroLeague Second Team.
