Entering the path toward aiming to win the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship for the third season in a row, Anadolu Efes is expected to bring in Will Clyburn. The news was reported by Socrates’ Ugur Ozan Sulak.
Clyburn, 32, has spent the last five years playing for CSKA. Building his way to joining the team based in Moscow, he displayed his talents for Germany’s ratiopharm Ulm for a couple of seasons, in Israel as a member of Hapoel U-NET Holon in 2015-16 and in Turkey playing for Darussafaka in 2016-17. Efes will mark his return to Istanbul.
The Detroit-born small forward, a former player of Iowa State and Utah at the NCAA level, averaged 14.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest over 20 appearances until CSKA’s participation in the 2021-22 EuroLeague season was withdrawn due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing war.
In VTB United League action, he put up 8.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in the Regular Season. Adding 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest paint the current picture of his efforts in the Playoffs as the team guided by Greek tactician Dimitris Itoudis leads 1-0 in the championship best-of-seven series versus Zenit Saint Petersburg.
As for Anadolu Efes, the team coached by Ergin Ataman lifted the EuroLeague trophy after edging out Real Madrid in the championship game of the Final Four held in Belgrade, Serbia. It is set to resume action in Turkey’s BSL Playoffs shifting to Game 3 of the best-of-three series opposite Pinar Karsiyaka on Tuesday.
