Zalgiris Kaunas announced that the fine that the club received for certain events that took place during the EuroLeague game against Crvena Zvezda has been reduced from 9,000 euros to 3,000 after an appeal by the Lithuanian side.

The Euroleague independent judge fined Zalgiris due to booing and insulting chants made by fans during that match vs. Red Star. There was some controversy in the game when Zvezda players refused to hold a “Stop the War” banner with the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

The Zalgiris fan club “Green White Boys” did a campaign to cover the sum of the fine, raising 6,607 euros. After the fine was reduced, the remaining money was transferred to the “Blue/Yellow” fundraising organization for Ukraine.

In other “fine-related” news, the EuroLeague independent judge sanctioned Olympiacos Piraeus with a fine of 20,000 euros due to the behavior of some of the fans of the Greek powerhouse during the Belgrade Final Four.
