Fenerbahçe President Ali Koc made statements at the club’s Financial General Assembly, stating that he is responsible for any failure in the basketball department and assuring there will be possible developments in the near future.
“If there is a failure in Fenerbahce, which has not been the way we wanted in the last period, I am responsible for this, not just one of our board members. Sertac Komsuoglu works day and night there. Hopefully, in a few weeks, we will be sharing very good and interesting developments with you,” said Koc.
“Fish stinks from the head, if anything, I’m responsible,” he further commented. “If there is a failure in basketball, no one can attribute it only to Mr. Sertaç. This is our failure”.
The Fenerbahce boss also talked about the financial situation and highlighted that there’s no fight between other Turkish clubs, rather with corporations. Koc referred to the financial implications and how these are affecting the club.
“We are no longer fighting against Beşiktaş and Galatasaray,” he said. “We are struggling with the teams of corporate companies that are much richer than us and do not have debt problems. They can pass these expenses by writing as ‘advertising expenses’. We are now at risk of going to jail after the new law for these expenditures.”
