Ante Tomic in his second season in Joventut Badalona has improved numbers compared to last year, averaging 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in Liga Endesa and despite being 35-year-old, the EuroLeague is knocking his door again.
After all, centers age gracefully, specially those with the elite skills of Tomic. In his latest display, against his former team Barcelona, Tomic scored 24 points in Game 2 of the semifinals.
That’s why a number of EuroLeague teams are showing interest for him, including Baskonia which will soon have a new coach in Joan Penarroya and that also means that changes in the roster are coming.
The contract signed with Joventut back in 2020 includes a very manageable opt-out this summer and it seems more than possible that Tomic will be back in Europe’s premier competition for one last time.
Tomic remains 5th in the all-time rebounding list of the EuroLeague (1545), 4th in two-pointers made (1137) and 16th in points scored (2780).
