Maccabi Tel Aviv is the only EuroLeague team left without a coach and Israeli basketball icon Oded Kattash is negotiating the possibility of filling up the last coaching opening available.
While it was reported in March that Xavi Pascual was the number one target of the team, his assistant coach Inigo Zorzano recently admitted that Pascual is staying in Zenit.
Per Eurohoops sources, Maccabi knew this turn of events for a long time and never had meaningful talks about the possibility of a collaboration with the Spanish coach.
On the other hand, Kattash who remains one of the top players in the history of Israeli Basketball was always a possibility for the local powerhouse.
At this point, Maccabi is offering a one-year deal, while Kattash’s side wants at least a two-year contract and the talks are ongoing.
