Kyle Hines staying at Olimpia Milano

Experienced big-man Kyle Hines will remain a member of AX Armani Exchange Milan moving forward to the 2022-23 season, team GM Christos Stavropoulos announced Sunday.

Celebrating the LBA Serie A championship secured on Saturday, Stavropoulos stated Hines has inked a new contract during the press conference at Mediolanum Forum. He did not clarify other details regarding the contract extension.

The 2021-22 season was his 12th in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The four-time EuroLeague champion put up 8.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks per contest as his side made the Playoffs but bowed out losing the best-of-five series to Anadolu Efes, 3-1. Consequently, the nine-year Final Four streak came to an end.

Domestically, Olimpia Milano returned to the top of the Italy league after finishing the best-of-seven series opposite defending champion Virtus Segafredo Bologna in six games. The UNC Greensboro product averaged 7.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per LBA game. He also helped in lifting the Italian Cup for the second time during the ongoing stint.

Hines, 35, joined the team located in Milan in 2020, after spending the previous seven years in CSKA. His European experience additionally includes stints at Olympiacos and Brose Bamberg and an early introduction with Veroli through Italy’s second division.

Just beginning the offseason, Olimpia Milano is expected to complete more moves looking to strengthen the squad and get ready for the next season. The team is slated to participate in the 2022-23 edition of EuroLeague and domestic competitions.
