Fabien Causeur played a key part in Real Madrid’s victory in Game 4 of the ACB Finals which led to the 2022 championship and his key contribution, especially in the last stretch of the season, is leading him towards a contract extension with the club.
According to a report by Carlos Sánchez Blas, Real plans to renew Causeur’s contract for next season. The Frenchman has previously signed an extension with the club back in 2019, valid until June 30, 2022.
Causeur, 35, played 36 Endesa League games this past season with averages of 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists. His numbers in the Euroleague have been quite similar, with 8.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists on average in the 28 games played.
Causeur was part of the Real Madrid squad that won the 2018 EuroLeague title and across his five-year tenure with the club he has won three Spanish Liga Endesa titles (2018, 2019, 2022) and two Spanish Supercups (2018, 2019).
As opposed to Real’s interest to extend Causeur, the team doesn’t plan to do the same with guard/forward Jeffery Taylor, whose contract ends this summer, according to Sánchez Blas. Taylor, 33, has been part of the Real Madrid squad since 2015.
