Olympiacos Piraeus announced that head coach Giorgos Bartzokas signed a three-year contract extension with the club. It was expected that the Greek coach will stay with the team, especially after the 3-0 sweep over Panathinaikos Athens in the Greek League Finals.
Bartzokas returned to Olympiacos in 2020 for his second stint with the team after the one of 2012-2014. This season, he led the Reds to the Greek championship and Greek Cup titles for the club’s first “double” since 1997. His team also returned to the EuroLeague Final Four after 2017 and he was named Coach of the Year.
During their first partnership, Bartzokas and Olympiacos were crowned EuroLeague champions in 2013. It was a back-to-back title for the organization while Bartzokas became the first Greek head coach to win the EuroLeague.
