French guard Elie Okobo has signed a deal with the 2022 French League runner-ups AS Monaco with a yearly salary worth 1M euros, according to Eurohoops sources.
Earlier on Saturday, Okobo led ASVEL to its third consecutive French Betclic Elite trophy with 20 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds.
Okobo, 24, returned to Europe with ASVEL in 2021-22 and quickly became a key player into the rotation, with an average of 13.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.2 rebounds across 26 French League games. He posted 14.5 points, 3.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds in the 2021-22 EuroLeague campaign across 27 games.
The Frenchμαν was selected with the 31st overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns and joined them for the 2019-20 campaign, before moving to the Brooklyn Nets and being assigned to the Long Island Nets of the G-League in January 2021.
He began his professional career with Elan Bearnais in 2015 and stayed with the club through the 2017-18 season.
The deal between Monaco and Okobo was first reported by BasketNews’ Donatas Urbonas.
