A deal between Barcelona and Nikola Kalinic may be official sooner than later after the forward’s name was registered by the Spanish ACB among a list of players who have communicated their intention to return to the league.
This list mentions the players who have informed ACB that they intend to play in the league in the 2022-23 season next to the clubs that own their rights according to the Tanteo rules. Former NBA champion Marc Gasol, for example, is expected to continue with Girona after leading them to promotion to the first division.
Kalinic‘s rights are owned by Valencia since his 2020-21 stint with the team. The Taronja can match any offer that Barcelona will make Kalinic or receive a certain fee.

Kalinic was reported to have opted out of his contract with Crvena Zvezda. The Serbian player had a strong season in both EuroLeague and the ABA League, averaging 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, plus 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists respectively.
