Baskonia completed its first summer addition by inking Daulton Hommes to a two-year contract and released Alec Peters, the team announced Sunday.
Hommes, 26, finished the 2021-22 season playing for the Birmingham Squadron in the G League. He was traded from the Austin Spurs to the affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans in February and went on to produce 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. Appearing in 15 games upped his career total to 51, combined with the 2019-20 stint in the development league as a member of the Spurs.
Previous experience in Europe stemming from the 2020-21 season features the spell at Vanoli Cremona. He had 16.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.6 blocks, and 0.6 steals per contest over 28 appearances in Italy’s LBA Serie A.
The Washington-born small forward making his back to Europe propels him to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. He will also display his talents in Spain’s Liga Endesa, arguably the strongest domestic competition on the continent. More moves are expected to populate the squad of the new head coach Joan Penarroya.
Peters, 27, spent the last couple of seasons at Baskonia and inked a two-year contract to join fellow EuroLeague side Olympiacos, the Greek team announced Sunday confirming the earlier report of Eurohoops. The 2021-22 campaign, hampered by a knee injury, saw him put up 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks per EuroLeague game, and 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks per ACB game.
