The Sacramento Kings were informed that Sasha Vezenkov will stay at least one more season with Olympiacos and they decided to sign the Basketball League MVP Chima Moneke.
The writings were on the wall for Vezenkov when he decided not to travel to Las Vegas and meet with the Kings brass. Per Eurohoops sources, Vezenkov wishes first to finish the job in Europe by winning a EuroLeague title with Olympiacos and then move to the NBA, presumably under better terms.
On the other hand, Olympiacos is expected to present a new contract to the player with an even bigger salary and also a bigger NBA out clause.
The Kings decided to fill their roster with former Manresa player Chima Moneke, who had a season to remember last year, especially in the Basketball Champions League.
Moneke was named MVP after leading his team to the final.
Moneke has ties to the Kings due to his presence in the Nigerian national team, which was led by current Sacramento head coach Mike Brown and also featured associate head coach Jordi Fernandez and assistant coach Luke Loucks.
Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 KTXL first reported the news.
