Looking to impress in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Partizan NIS kept Mathias Lessort. Lessort signed a one-year contract extension, the team announced Monday confirming the earlier report of Mozzart Sport.
Lessort, 26, joined Partizan last December. Appearing in ten games of the 7DAYS EuroCup, he produced 31.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and 0.5 blocks per contest. The 10.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.7 steals per game made out his efforts in the bottom end of the 2021-22 AdmiralBet ABA League.
The French international center started the previous season at Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv but departed upon the expiration of the short-term contract. Adding five more EuroLeague games played with the Israel giant, he upped his total to 57, powered by the 2019-20 stint at FC Bayern Munich and the 2017-18 run at Crvena Zvezda mts. Career averages amount to 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.7 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 0.6 assists per game.
A youth product of Elan Chalon, he turned pro with the French club in 2014. Other former teams are Nanterre 92, Unicaja, and AS Monaco. In 2017, he was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 50th overall pick of the NBA draft with his NBA rights currently controlled by the New York Knicks.
Back in the premier club continental competition of Europe after nearly one decade, Partizan will be headed by legendary tactician Zeljko Obradovic. Confirmed summer signings are Danilo Andjusic, Dante Exum, and James Nunnally, while Ioannis Papapetrou is on the verge of joining the team as well.
