Sergio Rodriguez penned a one-year contract to return to Real Madrid, the team announced Monday. The reunion was reported by Eurohoops a couple of weeks ago.

Rodriguez, 36, played for Los Blancos between 2010 and 2016. Running the point was combined with capturing the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in 2016. The list of international trophies also includes the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. At the domestic level, he was crowned champion in Spain’s Liga Endesa three times and won the Copa del Rey four times and the Supercopa three times.

El Chacho displayed his talents at AX Armani Exchange Milan for the last three seasons. In 2021-22, he upped his total of EuroLeague appearances to 333 generating 8.3 points, 4.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest. Ettore Messina’s side made the Playoffs but was eliminated by future champion Anadolu Efes in four games.

In his third year in Italy, the Canary Islands-born point guard had 11.1 points, 5.5 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game at the domestic level. His efforts resulted in Olimpia Milano topping both the LBA Serie A and Coppa Italia but falling short of winning the Supercoppa as well.

The two-time EuroLeague champion has also made his way to 358 NBA games during his long career. The initial stint from 2006 to 2010 featured him at the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and New York Knicks. He returned in 2016-17 earning a spot on the roster of the Philadelphia 76ers.
