Iffe Lundberg is back in the EuroLeague with traditional Italian power Virtus Bologna. Eurohoops sources confirm the deal which is expected to be official soon as the Italian are building a formidable roster, which aims at least for the playoffs, which will secure Virtus’ presence in the EuroLeague for the 2023-24 season.
Lundberg left CSKA Moscow after 65 career games under the Russian club with averages of 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 steals after the start of the war with Ukraine. He was an instant hit with the EuroLeague powerhouse and had the chance to sign with the Phoenix Suns on a two-way deal, which didn’t really permit him to showcase his talents.
Widely considered the best active Dane player, he had set his sights on making it to the NBA. After getting the chance to display his talents abroad, he helped current BCL outfit Baxi Manresa return to Spain’s top-flight division and in 2018-19 debuted himself in the ACB. Moving to Lenovo Tenerife in 2019-20, he logged 14 appearances in the Champions League. He landed in Poland powerhouse Enea Zastal BC Zielona Gora before joining CSKA midway through the 2020-21 season.
It has to be noted that despite the rumors about him and Fenerbahce, the Turkish club had other priorities in the summer market.
Spanish media “Home of Glory” first reported the upcoming deal of Lundberg with Virtus.
