Back-to-back EuroLeague Final Four MVP and champion with Anadolu Efes Vasilije Micic remains with the club for the following season.
Wednesday was the last day of the deadline on his NBA buy-out and the Serbian superstar opted to remain in Turkey for another season.
As Eurohoops reported last week, Micic was close to staying in Europe despite attracting significant interest from several NBA teams. The Serbian player pushed for a trade, yet the Oklahoma City Thunder still owns his NBA rights and wasn’t willing to give him up easily. From his side, Micic wasn’t keen on being part of a rebuilding process with the franchise.
Micic, 28, averaged 18.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in the 2021-22 EuroLeague season and carried Efes to the final with an epic-game winner against Olympiacos. Ergin Ataman’s squad was able to outlast Real Madrid in the championship game to lift its second consecutive EuroLeague trophy.
The news of Micic staying with Efes was confirmed by his agent, Misko Raznatovic.
