Maccabi promotes teenager Tomer Agmon

One more player coming up for Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and head coach Oded Kattash.

Tomer Agmon was promoted to the senior squad for the 2022-23 season, the team announced Thursday.

Agmon, 18, joined at the age of 6 and went through all youth teams of the Yellows all the way up to the first team. In the last couple of seasons, he displayed his talents in Euroleague Basketball’s Adidas Next Generation Tournament producing 9.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.4 steals over ten appearances. Beyond Maccabi, the young shooting guard has been named to the extended selections of Israel’s junior national teams and also represented the country at the U17 level in 3X3.

Diving into the 2022-23 squad of the Tel Aviv giant, Wade Baldwin IV, Lorenzo Brown, Bonzie Colson, Darrun Hilliard, Austin Hollins, Jarell Martin, Rafi Menco, Josh Nebo, Guy Pnini, and Alex Poythress were part of the roster overhaul. Besides the ten additions, Jake Cohen, John DiBartolomeo, Roman Sorkin, and Yiftach Ziv were retained.

Kattash, 47, was appointed as the new head coach in June. In his second stint at Maccabi, he will work with top assistant Josep Maria Berrocal. Extending their runs as members of the coaching staff, both Doron Perkins and Noam Levi were recently confirmed for the next season.

Looking ahead, Maccabi is slated to compete in the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season with action tipping off in early October. Israel’s Winner League along with the midseason Cup and preseason League Cup shape domestic competitions.
