Six players scored in double figures for Partizan Belgrade as the Serbian powerhouse beat Lokomotiv Kuban 92 – 70 on the opening day of the 2022 VTB SuperCup. It was a quite promising performance for Partizan in its first official game of the new season and ahead of the team’s EuroLeague return after 2014.
Tristan Vukcevic led Partizan with 17 points plus five rebounds, Danilo Andjusic dropped 16 points while Kevin Punter and Ioannis Papapetrou had 13 points apiece. Zach LeDay (12 points, five rebounds) and James Nunnally (11 points) completed the offensive equation for Zeljko Obradovic‘s squad that shot 30-48 from the field overall and led almost from start to finish.
Jaylen Barford posted a game-high 19 points for Lokomotiv. The Russian side was up 26 – 29 halfway through the second quarter but Partizan responded with a 15 – 3 run to go ahead 41 – 32 at the break. They established a double-digit advantage in the third period and remained in control for the rest of the match.
In the VTB SuperCup opener, CSKA Moscow defeated Unics Kazan 76 – 71 behind 18 points by Anton Astapkovich, plus 13 points and six rebounds courtesy of Nikola Milutinov.
