Vasilije Micic dropped 18 points and dished out six assists as Anadolu Efes beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 87 – 81 in its last preparation game ahead of the 2022-23 season. It was the third-place match on Day 2 of the Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament that’s held in Athens.
Egehan Arna added 16 points while Will Clyburn and Rodrigue Beaubois scored 12 points apiece for Efes that bounced back after a lackluster offensive performance vs. tournament host Panathinaikos. The reigning EuroLeague champions were up even by 24 points in the first half and led 58 – 36 at the break.
Led by Wade Baldwin (20 points), Maccabi launched a comeback attempt and managed to reduce the deficit to seven, 72 – 65, early in the first period. Efes had responded with a 9 – 1 run and retained the advantage for the rest of the match.
Efes will next face Fenerbahce Beko in the Turkish Presidential Cup Final held in Ankara Wednesday (28/9).
