Olimpia Milano defeated Panathinaikos Athens to win first place in the 2022 Pavlos Giannakopoulos preseason tournament. The Italian side led for the entire second half and got the victory mostly thanks to a potent defensive performance.

Milano newcomers Brandon Davies (20 points) and Billy Baron (12 points, six assists) led the way offensively. Tommaso Baldasso added 10 points.

Nate Wolters had 10 points for Panathinaikos while Andrew Andrews scored nine and Lefteris Bochorides contributed nine points. Their team used the momentum from the win over Anadolu Efes and entered the game strong to lead 17 – 20 in the first period. Milano took over to close halftime up 40 – 33.

Panathinaikos got close in the third quarter but Milano held on to its lead. When the Greens made their last charge to approach 60 – 66 halfway through the fourth quarter, their opponents delivered a 7 – 0 run to keep their distance and retained their double-digit margin.
