Giannoulis Larentzakis was the key to Olympiacos’ win on the road against Barcelona in the EuroLeague opener.

With 12 points on four made threes, he practically decided the outcome, and as he said to Eurohoops during the Olympiacos media day, this is not “risk ignorance” but “self-confidence”.

Larentzakis explained: “What you translate as “risk ignorance”, I translate as self-confidence. I definitely have that in general in my life, but when I get on the court, because I believe so much in myself, my work, and my abilities, it has helped me progress and reach this level. Sometimes it works out for me, and sometimes it doesn’t work out for me”.

For the Greek guard, risks are part of the sports and self-confidence is the key: “I think that’s what sports are like and when you take risks and give it your all and be yourself, even if you haven’t succeeded, you’ll sleep well at night.”
