Exploring his options as a free agent, Dwayne Bacon denied speaking with the website of Greek national television.
“I never did that interview ever,” he stated in a story shared on social media, a few hours after his interview surfaced on ErtSports.
Bacon, 27, supposedly welcomed a move to Panathinaikos and reuniting with Paris Lee. It has to be noted that ErtSports published a response, in which an exchange via social media is included with a “yes” by Bacon as the answer to the question “do you want to come to Panathinaikos”.
He was recently released by the Los Angeles Lakers, becoming a free agent. Moving his talents to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and AS Monaco generated fireworks throughout the 2021-22 season and thus made him an intriguing free agent for teams of Europe’s premier club continental competition. Seeking an opportunity to return to the NBA has been his priority.
Commenting on the link to the Greens, Panathinaikos head coach Dejan Radonjic all but ruled out the addition of the former Florida State standout.
“This was merely the most recent rumor. We have talked about what the team needs. We talked a lot and need a player at the power forward position. His profile does not fit what we currently need,” mentioned the Montenegrin tactician.
“I don’t know why he is still a free agent,” he added, “For us, it is important to consider all available options. We have many new players and are also the second-youngest team in EuroLeague. We must pay attention to everything.”
The Charlotte Hornets selected Bacon with the 40th overall pick of the 2017 NBA draft. He logged 207 appearances in the NBA between the Hornets and Orlando Magic before using his overseas options to expand his career in Europe.
