With Baskonia threatening legal action against Luca Vildoza, asking for a buyout for his European rights, Crvena Zvezda reacted by presenting last night the letter of clearance of the player that permits him to be registered in every FIBA-related competition.
However, per Eurohoops sources, Vildoza was not registered for EuroLeague Round 3 as the deadline expired yesterday at 18.00 CET. Of course, that may be just a formality, since the player can be registered until tomorrow (19/10) at 18.00 CET for Round 4.
It has to be noted that what Baskonia mentions as “European rights” is based on a private agreement between the player and the Spanish club and not on a general framework. EuroLeague will not have any other choice than to register the player based on the letter of clearance.
The dispute between the side of Vildoza and Baskonia will be resolved either privately between the two sides, or in a court of law.
