Baskonia announced that guard Pierria Henry signed a contract to return to the team after 2021. Fenerbahce Beko had the Right of first refusal for the 29-year-old playmaker after his stint with the team last season but the Turkish powerhouse didn’t make him an offer.
Henry was a free agent after being waived by the Houston Rockets earlier in October. He was pursuing an NBA deal but didn’t manage to make a regular-season roster and now he’s back in Europe where he had successful runs with multiple clubs.
After making the All-EuroCup Second Team and being named regular season MVP in 2019 with Unics Kazan, Henry moved to Baskonia to debut in EuroLeague. He elevated his game to become one of the standout point guards in the competition, averaging 10.5 points, 7.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 2020-21.
Henry helped Baskonia win the ACB championship in 2020 and was named to the league’s First Team in 2021 before his move to Fenerbahce. The team didn’t manage to make the EuroLeague playoffs but finished 2021-22 on a high note with the Turkish BSL title.
