Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade parted ways with Vladimir Jovanovic after a shaky start to the season and appointed Dusko Ivanovic as the head coach. Before his debut against Asvel, the experienced coach addressed the rumor that his second practice with the team lasted five hours.
“It’s not true, we practiced for six and a half hours“, Ivanovic jokingly said. “The boys have the willingness to work, and as I’ve seen before, they are tough. What I noticed is that they need patience and faith. I haven’t tried to change much, it wouldn’t be effective. We need to change some details offensively and defensively“.
At Crvena Zvezda Ivanovic has a chance to work again with the Argentinian Luca Vildoza. Together they were Spanish champions in the 2019/20 season with Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.
“It’s easier for him and he can help the guys to understand my work better. These guys are true professionals and will accept everything quickly. We lack time, but it is how it is“, Ivanovic added.
Dusko Ivanovic will lead his new team for the first time against Asvel at home, in Round 8 of the EuroLeague. Crvena Zvezda has a 1-6 score in the European competition, and 4-1 in the Adriatic League.
