The longer former EuroLeague star guard Facu Campazzo remains a free agent the more several rumors continue to appear regarding his future. He has been linked with organizations like Olimpia Milano and Fenerbahce but neither of these clubs has extended him an offer, so far.
A return to Real Madrid may be an option for Campazzo, one that would make a lot of sense in many ways. When asked about Campazzo and his current status, Real coach Chus Mateo admitted that the Argentinian player would be a much-welcome addition to the team.
Here’s what Mateo said per to Spanish radio Vamos:
“There is talk of Facu because he has been left out of his team in the NBA. He is a player who has always been here, with us. He is a player very loved by Real Madrid, by the staff and by his teammates. Of course, for Real Madrid it would be an extraordinary acquisition. You have to let him calmly decide his future. To Facu, as a person, we wish him the best and hopefully, he could be with us, why not him.”
If any European club makes Campazzo an offer, Real Madrid retains the right to match that offer and sign the player.
Campazzo previously played for Real Madrid in 2014-2015 and from 2017 to 2020, winning two EuroLeague championships along with several domestic titles and individual accolades.
