Injuries are piling up for FC Bayern Munich.
Captain Vladimir Lucic is likely out for several weeks, the team noted Tuesday. Already sidelined for nearly two weeks since the injury on his left elbow, the Serbian forward is set to miss more games moving deeper in the 2022-23 editions of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and Germany’s easyCredit BBL.
Also, Augustine Rubit was projected to stay on the injury list for at least one more week. The South Alabama product suffered a groin strain in last week’s EuroLeague Regular Season Round 11 home win against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
Rolling into the rescheduled BBL Regular Season Round 12 fixture opposite EWE Baskets Oldenburg Tuesday, two more players were injured. Corey Walden exited after hurting his ankle and Nick Weiler-Babb with a hip issue. Both are questionable to play against Cazoo Baskonia in EuroLeague Regular Season Round 12 action Friday. Apart from injuries, Zan Mark Sisko (personal) is not available.
Nevertheless, the team coached by Andrea Trinchieri took down Oldenburg, 81-77. Cassius Winston scoring 23 points was the driving force in improving to a league-leading record of 8-1.
In a Round 6 contest, Alba Berlin overcame David Kramer’s 31 points to claim the away win, 95-90, over Basketball Lowen Braunschweig. Jumping to 7-1, the team guided by Israel Gonzalez tied Telekom Baskets Bonn for second place in the German league’s standings.
More BBL action on Tuesday, Niners Chemnitz overpowered MLP Academics Heidelberg, 87-78, in a contest stemming from Round 2.
