Crvena Zvezda mts making on offer for Facundo Campazzo made its way to Real Madrid. Los Blancos were informed and have nine more days to decide whether they will match or make another offer.
Campazzo, 31, became a free agent after being waived by the Dallas Mavericks in late November. So far, the only offer on the table is the Belgrade outfit extending a two-year contract. From 1.8M euros net until the end of the 2022-23 season and 2.5M euros net for the 2023-24 season, plus a very manageable player option. Determined to bring in the Argentine point guard, Red Star also intends to cover a large amount of the sum the player still owes Madrid from the total 6M euros NBA buyout he had to pay in order to join the Denver Nuggets in 2020.
Beyond lifting the ban on transfers recently issued by Euroleague Basketball, Crvena Zvezda must also wait for Real Madrid to make a decision. As part of the deal for the Cordoba-born player to leave Madrid and expand his career into the NBA late in the 2020-21 season, the powerhouse based in Spain’s capital retains the right to match any offer from European clubs within ten days from being officially informed about the offer. The mail concerning the contract presented by Crvena Zvezda was received yesterday Tuesday, so nine days to the deadline for a final decision.
