After undergoing an MRI in the morning, Wade Baldwin IV was ruled out for three to four weeks with a hamstring strain, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv announced Friday afternoon.
Baldwin, 26, exited the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 12 home fixture opposite Valencia with nine points, four rebounds, and three assists in 20 minutes. He was actually cleared to return to action after missing the Round 11 visit to FC Bayern Munich due to a hamstring injury. The latest setback led to the MRI which revealed the strain, thus the initial timeline.
From Vanderbilt to the NBA as the 17th overall selection of the 2016 draft, Baldwin moved his talents to Europe in 2019. Between Olympiacos, Bayern, Bitci Baskonia, and Maccabi, he has made his way to 104 EuroLeague games, including 15.0 points, 4.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per contest powering the Yellows this season. The team coached by Oded Kattash currently sits at 6-6, half a game outside the Playoffs zone of Europe’s premier club continental competition.
Packing 13.8 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game in Israel’s Winner League has helped Maccabi to a 6-1 start, good enough for a tie on top of the standings with crosstown rival Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv with plenty of action remaining in the Regular Season.
Up next for Maccabi is Winner League Regular Season Round 9 and playing host to Bnei Ofek Dist Herzeliya tomorrow, Saturday. Back to EuroLeague and a couple of matchups in Italy versus EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Virtus Segafredo Bologna, Tuesday and Friday, respectively.
