A change at the top of the list of players with the most blocks in the history of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Real Madrid’s Walter Tavares recording the 318th block of his career in Europe’s premier club continental competition passed veteran center Bryant Dunston to rank first Thursday evening.
Tavares, 30, was coming off a career-best six blocks in the win against FC Bayern Munich at the top of the double-game week. From Round 13 to Round 14 of the 2022-23 Regular Season, he earned sole possession of first place by rejecting Laurynas Birutis of Zalgiris with 2:16 remaining in the first quarter of the contest hosted at Zalgirio Arena. Overall this season, the Cape Verdean center averaging 2.5 blocks per game leads EuroLeague.
Following on the all-time block list, Dunston at 317 and Kyle Hines at 295 remain active playing for Anadolu Efes and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, respectively.
