Interviewed by Mozzart Sport, Filip Petrusev talked about how he has changed and progressed since he joined Crvena Zvezda in the summer.
“My enjoyment has returned. I can’t wait to spend every minute on the field, especially against the best teams in the Euroleague, to prove myself and show that it belongs there. In Mega, I focused more on the attack and sought satisfaction from that. In the Euroleague, you have to in all possible ways to contribute to the team. I started to enjoy defending, jumping”, Filip Petrusev said about his change of mentality.
Then, he went on to speak about his main goal, the NBA. “The NBA was my primary goal because teams often take young players. It didn’t end as I expected, after an incredible season in Mega. I needed time to wrap my head around it, which carried over to the start of the season in Efes“, the 22-year-old added.
Finally, he reflected upon his failing adventure with Anadolu Efes. “It wasn’t me and as time went on I spent less and less time on the floor, with very poor performances. I was looking for an opportunity to rise and return to that level. It was not pleasant. For young players like me, the only thing that matters is that they play, whether, in the ABA League or the EuroLeague”, Petrusev said.
The Serbian center has been averaging 8.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, with a EuroLeague career-high of 24 points in the loss against FC Barcelona.
