Experienced forward Victor Claver can miss the next games of Valencia.
Claver, 34, picked up an injury in the home game versus Carplus Fuenlabrada held at La Fonteta yesterday, Tuesday. Avoiding a fracture to his ribs, he will be re-evaluated in the next few days, the team announced Wednesday morning.
Sam Van Rossom (right knee), Martin Hermannsson (left knee), and Millan Jimenez (left ankle) are already out for the Oranges. Staying at home from Round 14 of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season to Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 17, Claver is doubtful to play versus Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Friday. More in a packed schedule with an ACB visit to Cazoo Baskonia and a two-game EuroLeague week featuring Anadolu Efes at home and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on the road.
In his eighth EuroLeague campaign, Claver has produced 5.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest for his hometown Valencia. Carrying a 7-9 record, the team coached by Alex Mumbru sits one game outside the Playoffs zone. Packing 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game over 14 appearances in the top-tier division of Spain, the latest addition to the injury list contributed to the 7-7 start.
Claver returned to Valencia by inking a three-year contract prior to the 2021-22 season. He was coming off a five-year spell at Catalonia giant FC Barcelona. Earlier in his career, he played in 82 NBA games, all as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers in three seasons between 2012 and 2015.
