Barcelona superstar and reigning EuroLeague MVP Nikola Mirotic doesn’t only approve of the idea of a EuroLeague expansion to Dubai but believes that it would be great if a club from the Emirate joins the league.
Mirotic has been reported to be among several stars who are targeted by Dubai executives with the goal of creating a EuroLeague superteam.
Here’s what Mirotic said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo:
“I think it’s a great idea to have a team in Dubai, why not? At the moment that Euroleague is in need of changes. The amount of money and the doors that can be opened by having a team there…I think it’s a great idea.”
Several plans for a EuroLeague expansion to Dubai have been laid over the last couple of months. EuroLeague Basketball CEO Marshal Glickman has mentioned that the organization is in talks with Dubai representatives regarding a team potentially competing in the championship or having a Final Four hosted in the city.
