Panathinaikos Athens may be signing a new player by the next week according to head coach Dejan Radonjic. The Greens can sign any player except those who have already played in the 2022-23 EuroLeague.
“I hope that we will have a new player next week,” Radonjic said after Panathinaikos’ tough road win over Lavrio in the Greek League. “I found a player, there’s one name we have on the list. I hope that he’ll be with us during the next week.”
Following a disappointing EuroLeague loss to archrival Olympiacos Piraeus at home, Radonjic had met with Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos and was given the green light to search for new players.
After registering four wins in a row in EuroLeague, Panathinaikos suffered seven defeats (including the one to Olympiacos) for only one victory in the next eight games to fall way behind in the race for the quarterfinals. The Greek side is now 7-13 and four wins below the playoff zone.
