In Virtus Bologna’s 77-64 away win against ASVEL, Marco Belinelli had the best game of his EuroLeague season so far, alongside the victory against Fenerbahce at home in Round 16.
The 36-year-old veteran had 21 points, his season-high, against his former teammate Tony Parker’s team coming off the bench in 26:14 minutes spent on the court.
“It is a very big win for us. We played well from the beginning until the end, together. Everybody was aggressive. We prepared the game in a good way. We knew that, for us, it was an important game to win, and we did that. It is not easy to play on the road but we did. We bring the win to Bologna and just need to keep going and stay positive, for sure”, the former San Antonio Spurs player said.
The legendary Italian shooting guard came back to Italy in 2020 and he’s now living his first EuroLeague season with the black-and-white side. He’s averaging 7.6 points per game with 53.3% from two and being perfect (13/13) at the line.
Moreover, Sergio Scariolo talked about Virtus Bologna’s potential until the end of the season. “I am very happy with the win, but we are in the race. The competition is tough, and the race for the playoffs is extremely close and tough, but we are there. We want to make our steps one after another and see where we are in a few weeks. For example, our next game is against Barcelona, a super powerhouse, but let’s see. Step by step”, he said.
