After 8 years with Fenerbahce, in the summer of 2022, Jan Vesely moved to Spain and joined FC Barcelona to reunite with his countryman Tomas Satoransky.

Talking to AS, the 32-year-old big explained the reasons behind this decision. “Winning the EuroLeague is the reason why I came here. We have a great team and I believe that with this team we can win. Now we are preparing for the Cup. Next Monday we will start thinking about something else. We go day by day”, he said.

Then, he spoke about the differences between Barcelona and Fenerbahce. “Barça is a more recognized brand. I see it for example with my people. There are Czechs who come to Barcelona to watch a Barça game, to cheer us on. Obviously, the football team has to do with it. Barça is famous all over the world. The Barça brand is huge”, he commented on the impact of the red-and-blue brand.

Jan Vesely, who is averaging 8.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in this year’s EuroLeague, commented on his chemistry with Satoransky. We’ve known each other for 16 years. Playing with him is easy, we know each other perfectly, and we know our strengths and weaknesses so we know how to help each other on the court”, he added on the former Washington Wizards player.
