Tyler Dorsey is near a deal with Fenerbahce which will keep him in Istanbul until the summer of 2024, with an option for one more season.
Per Eurohoops sources, the Greek-American player and the Turkish club are finalizing the negotiations for a deal that will pay him an impressive $200.000 monthly salary expiring in the summer of 2024 with an extension option for the 2024/25 season.
While multiple EuroLeague teams expressed an interest in signing Dorsey when the Dallas Mavericks cut the player in December, including Olympiacos Piraeus, Fenerbahce Beko, and AS Monaco, this time the player had contacts with Anadolu Efes which is also on the market for a guard.
However, Fenerbahce which had targeted Dorsey since last summer made him an offer, which will bend the doubts of the player for returning to Europe since he was hoping to return to the US for good this season.
The deal must become official in the next two days in order for Dorsey to be eligible to play in the EuroLeague, so the negotiations are expected to be completed soon.
By joining Fenerbahce, Dorsey will play under Greek coach Dimitris Itoudis, who also coached him in the Greek national team in the recent Eurobasket.
He was recently released by the Texas Legends of the G-League where he averaged 18.9 ppg, 2.7 apg and 4.6 rpg.
In the 2021-22 EuroLeague, Dorsey averaged 12.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists with Olympiacos reaching the Final Four.
SDNA.gr first reported the imminent deal between Dorsey and Fenerbahce.
