Previously unregistered players entering the official Turkish Airlines EuroLeague squads across the field meet FC Bayern Munich confirming a new player.
Zylan Cheatham was added on the side guided by Andrea Trinchieri.
Cheatham, 27, represented the USA in the 2022 FIBA AmeriCup averaging 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over six appearances en route to capturing the bronze medal in Brazil. Previous experience includes five games played in the NBA split between the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019-20 and the Utah Jazz in 2021-22. The first chunk of his 2022-23 campaign features 14.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per G League contest as a member of the Birmingham Squadron.
Landing the EuroLeague newcomer, the Munich outfit was seeking a new option at the center position since ruling out Augustine Rubit indefinitely. Trinchieri’s side on a 9-16 W-L tally sits four games away EuroLeague Playoffs zone with only nine games left on the double-legged round-robin schedule. Domestically, Bayern was recently crowned BBL-Pokal champion but at 14-6 currently ranks third in Germany’s easyCredit BBL, 4.5 games behind ALBA Berlin and four games away from Telekom Baskets Bonn.
The Phoenix-born forward heading to Munich was first reported by Basketnews.
Fenerbahce Beko opened deadline movements by completing the addition of Tyler Dorsey. More teams instead registered players possibly recovering from injury until the end of the season or any other unregistered players. Players not registered past the deadline expiring Wednesday afternoon are ineligible to play for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
