Fenerbahce Beko and guard Marko Guduric have been working towards a contract extension and are finalizing the deal, the Turkish club’s general manager Derya Yannier said in TV interview for S Sport.
“We have been in contract extension negotiations with him [Guduric] for a while, at this point, I can say that we have reached the final stage,” Yannier said. “I do not anticipate that there will be a negative situation in the future, I hope that Guduric will be one of the important parts of our 3-year planning.”
“Guduric one of the most important parts of our team,” Yannier also mentioned. “Someone we trust very much both as a player and a character.” The Serbian player is averaging 12.4 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds this season.
This three-year planning of Fener also includes guard Tyler Dorsey. The deal between the Greek-American guard and the club became official today.
“I think it’s good that Tyler went through the USA process in the last period because he’s realized that it’s better for his career to continue in Europe, at a club with big goals,” Yannier commented. “For this reason, our goals as club matched with the player’s goals and, as a result, we signed a closed contract of 2.5 years. I hope that he’ll be useful to our team.”
Yannier also touched on Nemanja Bjelica, one of Fener‘s biggest signings last summer. He’s hopeful that the veteran forward will finally make his season debut this week against Virtus Bologna.
“I think he’s slowly starting to get ready. Of course, after that, it’ll be on our coach Dimitris Itoudis. He’ll use Bjelica when he thinks he can benefit the team. I think he may be on the squad on Friday against Virtu Bologna but we have a large and high-quality squad right now. As I said, he’ll be on the squad when the coach decides it.”
