Interviewed by Sport 5, Michael Roll has talked about Bonzie Colson’s moment in the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Maccabi Tel Aviv. They shared the court with Pinar Karsiyaka in the 2021-22 Basketball Champions League.
“Bonzie is a great teammate. You can see he loves playing basketball, which always helps. He’s just a good person who respects everyone and wants to be part of the team. He plays for his friends, he’s not selfish at all and he’s insanely talented”, the former Milano’s shooting guard said.
The 27-year-old American small forward moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2022. “As soon as I read reports that he might sign with Maccabi, I called him and told him to take this opportunity with both hands. I still follow the team, and I always will. Maccabi has a place in my heart, I love it”, the current Monastir player added on his former teammate.
Bonzie Colson, who was named MVP of the BCL in 2021, is averaging 11.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in his first-ever EuroLeague season. “He was a star in the BCL and he can become a EuroLeague star, no doubt. He needs to continue to improve and gain experience and strength in the EuroLeague. He is a very special player, not every small forward can take a rebound as he does, post up, and shoot. If he improves his dribbling and the pick and roll he could become a star”, Michael Roll added.
