Real Madrid is negotiating a contract renewal with Gabriel Deck, who’s current deal expires in 2024, as Marca reports.
The Argentinia once again showed his importance for the Spanish champions as he led the team to a 95-91 win over Valencia, after which he shared the MVP of the Round 28 award with Monaco’s Chima Moneke.
Real is reportedly aware that several clubs showed interest in him, and are willing to pay his exit clause this summer, high but supposedly acceptable for interested parties.
That’s why Real wants to tie him with renewal, and the negotiation has started after Copa del Rey with the player’s agent, although the positions, for now, are somewhat distant.
As Marca adds, not so much about the duration of the new contract, which would be multi-year, as for the fees which Argentinian would receive, as he wants to be recognized for what he is – one of the best forwards in Europe.
The player reportedly wants to continue with the club, as long as his status is recognized on his payroll, and Madrid wants him to stay, but not at any price.
Deck left Real Madrid on April 12, 2021, after two and a half seasons with the team, where he was one of the lowest-paid players, and made a leap to the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He signed four years and a 14.5 million dollar deal in the US, but he was only guaranteed for the first one. Oklahoma did not play the last three and Deck, who paid Real Madrid two million of his release clause, returned to the Blancos on January 19, 2022.
This season he’s the second most efficient player on the roster with an average PIR of 15,9, only behind Walter Tavares (16,8).
