Players falling to injuries keep disrupting Real Madrid throughout the 2022-23 season. The latest setback concerns Nigel Williams-Goss injuring his thigh against Surne Bilbao Sunday.
Williams-Goss, 28, exited the Round 22 contest of Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season. Pending further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury, he did not travel with the team based in Madrid to Istanbul for the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague affair opposite Anadolu Efes, as reported by Pilar Casado.
Making his way to 19 games so far this season, Williams-Goss averaged 6.5 points, 1.8 assists, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per EuroLeague contest. The experienced guard has been a key factor in the 19-8 run, good enough to currently sit second overall in the standings, half a game behind leading Olympiacos and 1.5 games ahead of rival FC Barcelona.
Additional players out for head coach Chus Mateo are Anthony Randolph (left knee), Carlos Alocen (left knee), and Sergio Llull (left knee). However, both Walter Tavares and Guerschon Yabusele are expected to play in the rescheduled Regular Season Round 24 game coming up Tuesday, after getting some rest sitting out the home fixture opposite Bilbao.
Back to Spain’s capital from the trip to Istanbul and to Round 29 of the double-legged round-robin schedule, Los Blancos will face EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in WiZink Center Thursday.
