Partizan Belgrade has been one of the hottest team in EuroLeague during the second leg of the 2022-23 regular season, having a 8 – 2 record over their last 10 games after a big win over Olympiacos Piraeus.
According to Partizan guard Kevin Punter, the Serbian sides has become a quite fierce opponent that other teams may not be eager to face.
“To be honest, I don’t think teams want to play us,” Punter told media after the win of Partizan over Olympiacos. Partizan will next clash vs. Barcelona (28/3) and Real Madrid (31/3) at home during the upcoming double-game EuroLeague week. Both games are already sold out. “There’s always a statement game for us. We have a lot to improve. Especially when we started the season a little slow and we picked it up as the season got going.”
“We have given ourselves a good chance to make the Top 8,” Punter added on his team’s progress. “We just have to keep playing until it’s official. Obviously with the seeding, we gonna be 6th or maybe get to the 5th spot. We have four games left and we just got pushing ourselves to be in the best position as possible.”
Punter himself scored 17 points to help Partizan beat Olympiacos and come closer to sealing a spot in the playoffs. He’s having a strong run overall with 15.7 points, 2.2 rebounds plus 2.2 assists while his performances in 2023 and impact on the team’s climb towards the postseason spots have earned him a spot in Eurohoops’ EuroLeague MVP Ladder.
