In the EuroLeague Round 32, Olympiacos beat Panathinaikos 81-73 as the red-and-white side got its 13th straight Athens derby win, pushed by Sasha Vezenkov and especially Thomas Walkup, named MVP of the Round.
Producing a double-double of 11 points and a career-high 13 assists, adding 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 6 fouls drawn, while shooting 4/4 at the line, the former Zalgiris Kaunas playmaker performed a PIR of 32.
“I feel great because we got the win. That was a hard-fought win, they brought it here with an amazing crowd tonight. They were loud, they were hostile and in that third quarter, they really brought us back. So, happy with our performance as a team. I’m just happy to play alongside Sasha Vezenkov so that I can just hand him the ball and he gets me an assist!”, Thomas Walkup said after the victory.
He was followed by Partizan’s Mathias Lessort and Baskonia‘s Vanja Marinkovic, who both had a PIR of 29 in the EuroLeague Round 32.
The French had 16 points and 8 rebounds in the 104-90 win against Real Madrid, while the Serbian guard scored a career-high of 35 points with 6/9 from deep in the 92-69 victory against Fenerbahce.
The 30-year-old point guard is averaging 7.9 points, 5.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game, shooting 59.6% from two, and 91.9% at the charity stripe.
