As officially announced with a video by Olympiacos on its new Twitter account and with a press release, Thomas Walkup has extended his contract with the red-and-white team until 2027.
After joining the Greek side in 2021 and going straight to the Final Four, the American point guard is now averaging 8.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.9 steals, helping Olympiacos be at the top of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings with a 23-10 record.
He has been one of the most important players for Georgios Bartzokas’ team all throughout the year, being named MVP of Round 32 with an amazing double-double performance in the Athens derby won against Panathinaikos.
Walkup signed with Olympiacos in the summer of 2021 and he immediately became one of the key members of the roster. His previous contract included an option for the 2023-24 season, however, Olympiacos decided to offer a new contract to him that will keep him for four more seasons in Greece.
⚓️🐙✍️🏾 What if @twalkup23 can’t pronounce correctly the word “ktapodi” (octopus in Greek)? He has four years ahead to fix his Greek speaking skills!!!
Walkup secured his seat for next season (2023-24).

Three more to come
With Shaquielle McKissic’s contract already extended, Olympiacos has already initiated extension talks with the rest of the core players, including Kostas Sloukas and Kostas Papanikolaou whose contracts expire this summer, plus Giannoulis Larentzakis.
It has to be noted that MkKissic was also a free agent, while Larentzakis and Walkup’s contracts would keep them at least until 2024 in Olympiacos. With all those moves already streamlined, the Reds who are aiming for the EuroLeague top have pretty much completed the bulk of their transfer moves before the end of the season.
