Zalgiris Kaunas is still alive and has a good chance to qualify for the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs. The Lithuanians will be in if they get the road win against Bayern Munich in the last game of the season.
If that happens, then Baskonia which is currently in the 9th spot of the Turkish Airlines standings will be left out.
After Thursday’s result, Olympiacos has clinched the top spot after the win over Baskonia and also secured the qualification of Fenerbahce BEKO, despite their defeat by Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet.
A little bit later, Maccabi beat Real Madrid and secured the fifth spot, having 20 wins and the tie-breaker over Partizan.
It goes without saying that Zalgiris‘s game in Munich against already eliminated Bayern is the most important of the last day since they have to win in order to be part of the quarterfinals.
Still, the game between Partizan and – depleted due to injuries and disappointed – Panathinaikos has also repercussions in the final standings.
If Partizan gets the win, then they will be sixth in the standings and also Zalgiris with a win will be seventh, leaving Fenerbahce in the eighth spot due to the tiebreaker, a scenario that seems the most probable at this point.
In case Zalgiris loses to Bayern, then Baskonia will be eighth and Fenerbahce will end up seventh.
If there’s a huge upset and Panathinaikos beats Partizan, then Partizan will remain sixth, but in the triple tie in the 19 wins with Fenerbahce and Zalgiris, the Turkish team will be seventh and the Lithuanians will end up being eighth.
Partizan may drop to the seventh position if they are defeated by Panathinaikos and Bayern also beats Zalgiris. In this case, Fenerbahce will be sixth, Partizan seventh, and Baskonia eighth.
Also in the fight for the second position, if Barcelona beats Valencia at home, then they will finish over third Real Madrid due to the tiebreaker. If they are defeated, then Real Madrid stays in the second place.
