With the regular season of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague being over, the time is right to take a look at the statistics and see which players stood out.

If we consider points and PIR as the main statistical categories, then the conclusion is that Sasha Vezenkov simply dominated the EuroLeague and remains the clear favorite to win the MVP title.

The Bulgarian forward from Olympiacos, the leading team in the standings after 34 rounds, was the top scorer of the competition with an average of 17,6 points per game, 0,9 points above Maccabi Playika Tel Aviv’s Wade Baldwin.

In the PIR ladder, Vezenkov is also at the top with an average Performance Index Rating of 22,2. Mathias Lessort is second with 19,5.

The French center of Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade had an outstanding season, which is underlined with 7,3 boards per game, making him the leading rebounder of the EuroLeague in front of Vezenkov (7,1).

Rookie sensation from Cazoo Baskonia Darius Thompson was a true revelation. The US guard had an average of 6,7 assists per game in his first EuroLeague season.

It’s impressive that he cast a shadow over EuroLeague legends like Milos Teodosic (six assists per game) and Kostas Sloukas (5,9).

The best shot blocker of the competition after 34 rounds is, of course, Real Madrid’s Walter Tavares. He broke a EuroLeague record with 77 total blocks, 38 more than any other player, for a league-leading 2,3 per game, the best average in the competition this decade.

Thomas Walkup of Olympiacos was the regular-season steals king with 1,9 per game, again proving himself as one of the best defenders at the elite European level.
